About this Brand
Escape your routine and challenge your physical limits with fell running, wild swimming and bush craft in this overnight swimrun adventure. You'll tow your camping and sleeping gear behind you to the island, where you'll set up camp, kick back, and enjoy some craft ales (aditional £1.50 per ale, payable in cash) and cooked food with your new campfire comrades. This is an environmentally responsible adventure and we will leave no trace of our passing or overnight stay.
This isn't just an opportunity to witness a stunning sunset and sunrise over the Derwent fells; it's a call to embrace a challenge, choose adventure, and cultivate your inner badass at the edge of your comfort zone.
Aleks is a former teacher who inadvertently became a full time adventurer, completing the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats run solo before going on to become the first person to run the length of Europe. He wants to share his love of adventure and the outdoors, help others invite challenge into their lives and show the importance of taking on the unfamiliar as way to learn about ourselves and maintaining good mental health.
The P l a n
On the first day, you'll meet at the Great Wood National Trust Car Park. Then, you'll head out for the first leg of your adventure to run the Derwent fells and swim the crystal clear waters to your island wild camp, where you'll enjoy a campfire cooked meal.
On the menu: sweet potato, chickpea and olive tagine with giant couscous, apricots, almonds and feta (optional addition of pan-fried meats) with doughnuts or grilled fruit and dark chocolate for dessert. Top it all off with a delicious craft beer.
After a refreshing sleep under the stars, you'll pack up and swim back to the mainland. You'll have the option to join a breakfast gathering at a local cafe once you arrive back at Great Wood Car Park.
